Kordon

KORDON Art Residency facilitates art in dialogue with architecture and natural environment. It explores social and artistic dimensions of space, diversity of culture and wilderness. The interdisciplinary residency is located in the UNESCO biosphere reserve on the border of Kärdla city, the capital of Hiiumaa island. The mission of the residency is to initiate discussions on the relationship between the built environment and nature, to create an international network and to involve the inhabitants of Hiiumaa island. KORDON was founded in 2018 at the historical border coastguard house (1830). It offers residency possibilities to artists, architects, filmmakers, researchers etc to critically engage with the local context. KORDON is the member of Res Artis – Worldwide Network of Arts Residencies and LOORE – Estonian Creative Residencies Network.

KORDONi kunstiresidentuuri idee on dialoogi loomine kaasaegse kunsti, arhitektuuri/ruumi ja loodusliku keskkonna vahel, mis tegutseb UNESCO Lääne-Eesti saarte biosfääri programmialal Hiiumaal, Kärdlas ning huvitub ruumi sotsiaalsest ja kunstilisest mõõtmest, mis koondab oma tegevuses kultuuri ja koha mitmekesisusi. Residentuuri juhtmotiiv on ehitatud keskkonna ja looduse seoseid käsitleva diskussiooni ülevalhoidmine, rahvusvahelise võrgustiku loomine ja saareelanike kaasamine. KORDON alustas tegevust 2018. aasta suvel ajaloolises tsaariaegses rannavalve kordonihoones (1830). Residentuur pakub elu- ja loometingimusi kunstnikele, arhitektidele, filmitegijatele, uurijatele jt, et kriitiliselt mõtestada meid ümbritsevat keskkonda. KORDON on rahvusvahelise kunstiresidentuuride võrgustiku Res Artis liige ja Eesti loomeresidentuuride võrgustiku LOORE liige.

KORDON main principle is green thinking and economical and sustainable operations. KORDON uses 100% green energy, half of which is produced by its own solar park. The construction of the solar park was supported by Hiidlaste Koostöökogu / LEADER.

KORDONi tegutsemise alus on roheline mõtteviis ning säästlik ja jätkusuutlik tegevus. KORDON kasutab 100% rohelist energiat, millest poole toodab oma päikesepark. Päikesepargi rajamist toetas Hiidlaste Koostöökogu / LEADER.
